Grace was an absolute angel to photograph. She and her mom and I meet at a favorite spot on the Rollins College campus, reviewed her outfits and came up with our plan. We wanted a bit of everything the campus has to offer - graceful Mediterranean architecture, lovely canopied sidewalks, lakeside views and beautifully landscaped areas. So off we went to a lovely covered walkway to begin!
Grace had brought a great variety of clothing, accessories and jewelry. She had a few pieces of jewelry that were very special and significant and had been made by a friend. Those are the kinds of thoughtful items I love to include in a session. I would suggest, before your session, to review items you own that have special meaning. Even if we only use them for one or two shots, they may just turn out to be your favorite images and those pictures will have even more significance for you.
Same is true for important outfits - think prom dresses, the shoes you were wearing when something really fantastic happened, etc. Bring them and we will include them during your session. That's when planning gets collaborative and so fun! Grace's long gown had been used in her musical performances and of course was very special to her - plus it looked amazing! Grace walking through a corridor of stately oak trees was the perfect location for this special dress.
We had planned our session to take advantage of the late afternoon light. There was not a cloud in the sky so we were dealing with bright reflected light as opposed to a beautiful sunset sky. The light made her bright colored garments even more intense and we loved the effect. Surprises are one of the best part of a well planned session - you still get them but when they happen, they are always good surprises.
Here are just a few of my favorites from Grace's session, although it is very hard to chose!
